She completed high school at the Historic Flint River Farm School and attended Beautician school in Atlanta, Georgia. While in Hartford she met and married Frederick Jackson on November 4, 1967. On February 25,1983, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Barbara Jean Carr and to this union they were blessed with two children. Mike was a man that had a huge passion for farming as well as raising his animals, working in the garden, and most of all making his famous Brunswick Stew.

At the age of 18, he moved to Hartford, Connecticut in search for better opportunities. He was also employed by the City of Hartford’s Department of Public Works, where he retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
